Air advised the environmental charity Down to Earth on it’s existing site in west Swansea and followed this up with the current development in west Gower, preparing a master plan for the whole site, then the teaching centre, completed in 2017. This is based on a reciprocal frame using local Welsh larch, with straw bale insulation and turf roof, and awarded “the most sustainable venue in Wales”. A 270 square metre teaching space, office, kitchen, toilets, external washing facility, deck, covered porch, barns and a site master plan with managed public spaces. Insulation is straw bale, covered with lime render; the structure is a reciprocal frame, in-filled with thinning.
